OPTIMASI PARAMETER KARBURISASI TEMPERATUR RENDAH PADA BAJA TAHAN KARAT AUSTENITIK MENGGUNAKAN METODE TAGUCHI

Austenitic stainless steel is a popular material for its corrosion resistant properties, however it has low hardness which limits application. Low-temperature carburizing can be used to improve the mechanical properties of austenitic by producing expanded austenite layer. In order get high-quality layer and an efficient processing operation, process must optimized. this research, Taguchi method was utilized investigate effect parameters related formation depth in steel. Four factors were selected optimized namely temperature, gas flow rate, time, composition with three levels each. L9(34) orthogonal array applied nine experimental tests diffusion value carbon S/N ratio determine optimum factor combination nominal-the-better quality characteristic most significant obtained applying Analysis Variance. Temperature found 54.91% contribution. The also successfully defined temperature at 450°C (level 2), rate 15 liter per minute time 12 hours 3), 15% CH4 – 5% H2 80% N2 3). Clearly, study proven appropriately as one robust tools optimizing thermochemical treatment parameters.
